Following the success of the first two Local History talks the Spring Talks kicked off with Stuart Hopper talking on 12 April about – “Rev John Daykin of Kirby Hill- the man & his legacy in 2013” . Nearly 40 people attended who thoroughly enjoyed the evening which on ticket sales alone brought in £97.50 for Village Hall Funds. On the 10th of May Dr Graham Rogers talked about– “Interpretting the historical landscape : field systems & enclosures “.This was attended by 22 people who will now loook at fields and hedgerows in a different light. £55.00 was raised at this particular event. This will be the last talk until Autumn this year when talks are being planned to run monthly through until the Spring given the interest & attendance to date.
On 11th April 24 elderly residents sat down in the Dalton & Gayles Village Hall,as part of its new Community Hub Activities, for a roast pork dinner with all the trimmings followed by Sticky Toffee Pudding or Fresh Fruit Salad & cream all for £4/head. The Luncheon Club is a new initiative by the Village Hall Management Committee for residents of the villages in the Parish of Kirby Ravensworth. The 9th May Luncheon was fully booked with 24 residents enjoying roast beef and all the trimmings, followed by rhubard crumble followed by Gil Richardson from West Tanfield who spoke after the meal on "Climb Every Mountain" covering her adventures. The Management Committee will shortly be displaying in the hall their newly acquired Food Hygiene Rating of 5 , the best possible score, awarded by Richmondshire DC following their recent inspection of the Hall & its Food Hygiene procedures
