Dalton and Gayles Village Hall is situated at the edge of the village of Dalton and a mile away from the village of Gayles, just off the A66 and lies equal distance between the towns of Richmond and Barnard Castle.

Annual Produce Show
New winners and old at the Dalton and Gayles 2026 produce show
We had brand new winners celebrating alongside regular contestants at this year's Dalton and Gayles annual produce show on Saturday 15th August, with almost 90 prizes and 28 cups and trophies awarded for a huge variety of cakes, vegetables, flowers, art, handicrafts, photographs, preserves and drinks. In all, more than 400 items were entered.
William Marwood won the Lilian and David Brooks trophy for best overall exhibit, for his impressive array of vegetables - a notable achievement considering the dry weather - and Chris Matthewman was awarded the Ryland Cup for most overall points after winning multiple prizes for her baking, drinks and handicrafts.
Meanwhile, first-time contestant Lynn Toon won the Laybourn Trophy for best fruit or vegetable, for her flawless courgette.
The cooler temperatures and gentle breeze on Saturday attracted a good turnout, and despite the dry summer, there was still enough water in Dalton Beck to allow the duck race to run successfully.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the 2026 show such a success - it was a great community get-together across all ages.
Village Panto
Congratulations to everyone who helped make this year's panto such a success! The cast were brilliant, the performances were side splitting, and Susan Stanwix did an amazing job organising it all. Once Upon A Time In Pantoland was a sellout for all three performances, raising funds for the Village Hall and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
MacMillan Coffee Morning
This year's MacMillan Coffee Morning was a great success - lots of cakes were consumed, there was good chat, the throw-a-teabag contest was convincingly won by Richard, and we raised more than £400 to support people living with cancer. Thanks to everyone who came along.
New Years Eve Party
Thanks to everyone who came along to the NYE 70s party, and especially to Susan Stanwix and Alison Brooks for everything they did to make it such a success. 50 tickets were sold, most people came in wonderful fancy dress, and a good time was had by all, playing games, doing musical bingo, dancing, drinking, eating and socialising. Happy New Year!
